Fuel pump types?

I am trying to get an understanding of the fuel pumps used around 1997-99. Looks like there are two types: pulse which uses engine pulses to move a diaphragm in and out, and the accelerator pump that has the linkage connected to it.

I am correct on this?

What engines did they start putting the accelerator pump on?

Thanks

Accelerator pump....

Timmyboy is correct in the engines that use the accelerator pump, but it serves a completly different function than I think you believe it does.

It is not part of the "fuel pump" delivery system from as the pulse line pump is. The pulse line pulls in the fuel and distributes it to both carbs for use in the engine.

The engines carbs work on kinetic energy stored through the venturi effect of the engines vacuum.

The accelerator pump is a small, diaphragm operated pump, that when given throttle from idle, gives a shot of fuel into the carbs for that initial take off. After that, the mid range of the low speed jet and then into the high speed jet take over.

In a nut shell, the accelerator pump is only used in "acceleration".........
