Hi, all.
This is my first post but I've had a problem for a while...
I have a 2007 150 speedster 155 HP. I took out the fuel pump assembly to change the internal and external filters and disconnected the electrical connector between the float and the top of the assembly -- the connectors about halfway up the unit. There's a little locking clip -- actually two clips -- that hold the male and female connectors tightly together within a plastic housing. This housing is perhaps 1/2" x 1/2" and 1" long. Anyway, the locking clips CRUMBLED as I tried to pull them out and now the connectors are LOOSE. Since this unit sits within the fuel tank I am nervous about sparks due to this LOOSE connection.
My question is this: is there a part number for these locking clips? If so, where can I buy them? If not, what can I do to ensure the connectors remain tight without sparking? Can I just cut the wires and solder them together? If I do that, how do I protect the splices from the gasoline?
I'd hate to have to buy a new fuel pump assembly when all I need are these two clips.
Thanks for any info you can provide.
Frank
