Fuel Primer

While checking a few things as to why my 240efi will not start when hot, I notice that the fuel primer is disconnected and not being used. Why would someone disconnect this? Manual says it supplies fuel to the engine driven pump during cranking.

I was actually looking for the Throttle position sensor, which I can not find. LOL Where is it?

It's just a lift pump. AND, since you have a "Pulse" pump... it's redundant. Besides... I can see someone added a bulb. It does the same thing... pump it up, and the system is fed. AND, the bulb is cheaper. (sort of)

I'm guessing it was either dead... or more likely... the last owner didn't know that fitting on the bottom is a filter, with a bronze sintered element... and they plug up quick. I took mine off... tossed it in the trash... and put an in-line filter on.

FYI... that relay and fuse run that pump. Check them to see if they are OK.

Thanks Dr. The PO did run it without it being hooked up, just wasn't sure why. Usually people bypass things because they don't work. Finding some crazy crap the PO did.
Can you point me in the right direction for locating the TPC? I assume it is close to the throttle assembly, but can't seem to find anything that resembles the pic that the manual has.

Will check the fuse and relay today. Thank you.

TPC? TPS... Throttle position sensor? That's on the starboard side... side of the throttle body... toward the bottom.

Over the years... I've learned that some people don't understand things... and they get bypassed. OR... someone is "Old School" and just wanted a bulb since it was on every outboard they ever owned.

Yes, TPS. I'm sorry. I was rushing out to work. Guess I had golf on my mind. Starboard side of the engine? I was looking on the port side, around the throttle assembly.

Wait.... I am still jetlagged... and don't have enough coffee. You have a gen1 right? If it was a Gen2... it's the port side, up toward the top... almost covered by the Vapor tank. The Gen1... starboard side, connected to the bottom butterfly shaft. (opposite side of the throttle linkage)
