Fuel Lines

I tried looking for answer to this but I couldnt find it.

I had the Old Grey Tempo fuel lines in my 1996 GSX. I replaced it all with the 5/16' but later I read that it could be 1/4 or 5/16' depending on what the fuel line says on it (i think it was 8mm or 10mm), my lines just say Tempo they do not have a size on them, im not sure if I got unlucky with the cut of the hoses but I have looked them up and down and cannot find a size. Anyways im in the middle of a top end rebuild right now and havnt run the ski with the 5/16's lines yet.

So I have 2 questions.
1) Do you know what lines I should run for a 1996 GSX?
2) Is it bad to run the 5/16' if I should be running 1/4'?

Fits..........

If it fits, use it............no, it's not a big worry. What's the difference, a 1/16th, which is a 32nd to either side.

The original fuel lines are metric. I think most have changed with 1/4". But, if your clamps have made a tight seal, then I'd not worry about it. When you get the ski running, if you see a leak or have a problem with the return, then you may have to replace the pulse line with a 1/4" hose. Or for that matter, one of the grey lines you pulled off. The pulse line is not constantly submerged in fuel, so there will be no deteriation of that line. Just be sure, it's the pulse line you removed because if it's' one of the old fuell lines, it may already have breakdown inside the line.................but for now, do the top end, don't fret the small stuff at this juncter............

Well i already bought 5/16' and put it in. I just wanted to make sure if its the wrong size im not going to screw it up

Like Snipe said, if it doesn't leak, it's a go. :) Just check clamp tightness periodically to be sure.

I've been prepping for a boating trip and am quite happy about my HX's readiness (rebuilt carbs, new hose, bilge pump)

But as I prep the GTX my HX is sharing the trailer with, I'm grinding my teeth about the grey fuel hose the GTX still has.:ack:

I was just given this 1996 GSX, needed top end work after only 51 hours of use.

I figured since im doing that im going to do it all. Fix the baffle, grey fuel lines, install inline fuel filter before the carbs, rebuild/clean carbs. Do it all right once so I never have to do it again.

Remember HX.....

Remember JPX, as you start out on that ride. The HX looks best with a nice bikini clad lady sitting on the back!...........enjoy your ride.
