Hello all
I have yet another sportster le di mystery fault alarm on my 2005 sportster le di last trip out.thank god for this forum and the candoo pro
boat ran fine all day but on the way back to the marina I got an alarm, I cleared it and I didn't happen again on the way to the marina approx. 30 minutes run time, when I got home I hooked up my candoo pro, it did show a fault for starter relay that I could clear and did not come back ,but also an active fault in the list for fuel sensor out of range, that could not be cleared I was at a half tank of fuel so I went and filled it still no change for active fault. some questions I have are .
is there an alarm for low fuel ?if soo at what level ?
what can cause this fault?
where is the fuel level sensor, how do I access it?
is this even anything to worry about since it does not seem to effect the boat operation , nore the fuel gauge that still works
thanks much for any help
-Roger

mine (challenger 2000) has an alarm for low fuel. I couldn't tell you when I kicks in though. on mine there is a switch on the dash you have to hit to silence the alarm. the fuel level sensor is in the gas tank. its the baffle that comes out the top. if you undo the strap around the top of the baffle it should slids straight up. there is a float in the baffle with a magnet. the magnet passes across reed switches that each have a different resistor. the resistance is what tells your gauge the fuel level. mine is never right.

the question is; is your gas gauge accurate? if so I would say the fuel sensor is probably right and you have a problem else where

hi Lumps
thanks for the reply and info, seems like the gauge is accurate it was showing 1/2 tank and when I topped it off it took about 11 gallons and the gauge went back up to full. on my boat to clear the alarm you have to turn it off and push the start button 5 times and hear a different beep indicating it has been cleared. these boats are crazy. and I think at this point it seems like I know more about them than the steelerships mechanics do. they seem to be full of mysteries
thanks again
