Hi All,

I have a 1997 twin 110 787s , port engine last year ran fine after about 5-10 minutes of not revving past 3000 rpm. The motor would start fine and idle fine, but would bog and hover at 3000 max if I gave it throttle. After about 10 minutes, I could slowly get the revvs higher and higher and after a bit, both motors would be running tip top. This would only happen when cold. When I shut down the motors for a while, they would start right up and run no problem.

This year, the port motor wont idle, it sounds like its starving for gas. It has good spark, and when I drop some fuel into the air intake, the motor runs accordingly, then dies. I replaced the fuel diaphragm and the gaskets, thinking it wasn't getting fuel, now the motor will just sputter and pop a bit, but wont idle..

Any thoughts? I really dont want to pull the carb again, my back is killing me...

Swap over fuel pumps and see if the problem transfers over to the starboard motor. I've had the same issue and just replaced both pumps to the Mikuni high flows.

I'll try swapping, I attached an electric fuel pump to the fuel in line and bypassed the shut off valve, still didn't run....

If it didn't run with an electric fuel pump pushing fuel into the carb, can I assume that the fuel pump is not the issue?

Maybe check the compression.
Pull the carbs and rebuild using only genuine mikuni parts with new needles and seats setting the correct pop off pressure.
Also maybe check the pulse line for leaks.

Pulse line is OK, I think I might just have to rebuild the carb. I'm assuming they sell rebuild kits, I'll start shopping!

Thanks
