Fuel consumption per trip

What would you recommend to measure total fuel consumption per trip on a Challenger 230 (2011)? Unfortunately it cannot measure it "out of the box".

Easiest way is to top off the tank and go out for the day. Keep track of your time on the water and on the way home top the tank off again. Do the math and you have your answer. No electronics needed.

I have a smaller boat(sportster) with a 215hp engine. We go out and spensd about 4 hours skiing and riding around. It usually runs about 40 to 55 dollars in fuel. I would say 6 miles to the gallon maybe. The above comment is good advice. I always fill up at the gas station because marinas charge way to much. When you fill again you will see your consumption for an average day. I put a cold air intake on my boat and it seems to do a little better than with the stock air system.

We've never burned more than 1/2 tank in a single outing in our 150 speedster (155hp). It doesn't know anything except full throttle, either.

Most will find the SC versions will use up to 30% more fuel. As for speed, about 10Hp for every 1mph gain appox. Also with the twin boats as soon as you go over approx 50kph-30mph then you really start using the juice for only a little gain. Great for holeshots & throwing the boat around, heavy on the wallet if cruising along WOT. I think most doo boats will go dry after about 2.5 hrs if kept WOT.
cheers

Actually the reason why I was asking is something else: we are two parties sharing the same boat. The boat has a fixed mooring space in the water and visiting the marina gas station which is a few miles away each time before going back after trips is a little combersome. It would be much easier to just know the total gas consumption and total gas filling for each party - let's say by the end of the season - and then do the accounting. If only it had a "fuel consumption per trip" gauge we could easily do the bookkeeping.

Any ideas on how to add such a gauge?
