Is this a cooler? Does it drain?

Also there is a plug by the driver side foot. Below the seats....
He said (the guy I am buying it from), that it leaks. Whats this plug do? Where can I find a replacement?

Thanks guys.,

You all rule.

First of all yes front compartment will drain out fine ( the Cooler ) Second thing the thing by the driver seat has no plug all boats have them i do notice I do take on some water when not moving but i think thats to be expected.

Now there is a lilttle rubber baffel on the back of the boat where the one by the seat exits mine dont seem to tight and i dont believe it is spose to be all the fishing boat i have been on has the same hole to let water out.

Im boat n00bish but i think im right.

That drain under the driver seat is to let the water off the floor from having too much fun. On the back of the boat on the transom is a scupper. A small plastic clear almost jar shaped item with a ping pong ball in it. It is to keep any water from backwashing into the boat. If its missing go to West Marine to get a new one. The front cooler doesn't have a plug, it drains into the floor. Be careful with bottles...the caps fit in it perfectly and can get stuck. It is the perfect fit, and a pain to get them out. I only suggest using cans on the boat as bottles tend to break from the waves. The previous owner must have had a lot of broken bottles from the loads of glass I found in my Hull bottom of my challenger.

I need to get a dry sack. Something totally waterproof to store in the boat.

I went and got a tube, pulling rope, pump, new anchor and anchor rope, some more life vests.

They have them bumper things, but they are old and I need to wash them. I need to make sure the fire extinguisher works, and I might want to grab some extra ropes just to tie up to people when we get out on the water.

I want to tow this thing out with me and put it behind the boat when we park :)

fire extinguisher

Don't "test" your fire extinguisher... just look at the gauge or press in the check valve (small button on the top or side of the valve).
If the valve pops back out you are fine.
As soon as you use the extinguisher, even for a minute, the powder that is in there will keep the valve from closing and you'll need to get a new one.

uh...what are you talking about?...this thread is about scuppers on the stern of the jet boat...

See factory81's second post this thread...

Those manta rays look crazy! But would a challenger really be able to pull one?

As for the drain hole in the cooler, what did you use to get stuff out that was stuck? there's a bunch of goop in there from the previous owner, and i can't seem to get to underneath it to poke it out

Well I am going over the owners manual and operators manual now (had to get them from some other seadoo site).

Going out tomorrow to learn how to launch the boat, pull up to the dock, etc. My dad wants to teach me a few things.

I hope I can pull someone in a tube with 4 people in the boat and 1 on the tube.
We'll find out this Sunday, we'll probably weigh in around 750lbs.

To clean the cooler of debris, I use a pair of needle nose pliers to grab the broken glass and bottle tops.

So far everything in the boat drains well. There is an outlet on the bottom right hand side of the boat everything drains out. When I put this in the water does it need to be plugged? Or just the black ones.

Use the black plugs that dangle from the 2 holes near the bottom of the transum, and plug them up before launching.

Just be careful that you don't get boarded by marine patrol... if yours is the regular challenger, not the 1800...
Max capacity should be next to the steering wheel, i think it says 4 people, 650 lbs. That includes anyone being towed behind the boat, so you would be at 5 people 750 lbs plus gear...

:agree: vilord is correct. It is total capacity including the tubed person. Except for one exception... if you have 10 people on a tube with lifejackets and none are in the boat it is legal... to pull as many as you want.

Yeahhh I am a 4 person / 650lb capacity boat. I am hoping they let us slide if we get pulled over for being 130lbs or so overweight.

140lbs + 150lbs + 175lbs + 150lbs + 170lbs

I wonder if its a fine, something that gets you points on your record, or a warning?

You will have no problems pulling a tube or a skier on 2 skis with a full boat. They will give you a ticket and make someone get off the boat if its over loaded with people even if its just one. May not seem like a big deal to you but it for sure is to them.

BTW DUI's On the water go on your driving record just like a DUI on land so think b4 you drink. I got 2 in one nite before they changed the laws still cost me 600.00

I might pull one person in a tube with a life jacket on to avoid potential problems.

Oddly enough here in Michigan you can blow a .010 on a boat, but .080 in a car.

And BUI's are less troublesome than DUI's (While both are not good) in Michigan.

Umm not sure how much boating you have done but tubing is somewhat dangerous Please MAKE SURE to put a jacket on anyone on it same with skis. I have got black eye from a tube and have also knocked someone unconscious from a tube. Skis can also come off in a wreak and hit you in the head. 45MPH dont sound fast for hitting water but outside the wake its 55-60 MPH and either of them can be like hitting a wall.

And always keep a eye out ahead of you for other boats people loose lifes because some asshat decides to watch the tuber instead of where there going. On a busy lake its mad crazy and also the tube swings and turns slower than the boat you dont want to slam the tubber into a boat.

2 people just died here from being stupid, water is fun but dangerous
