front end jumps

i have a 2001 challenger 240 efi merc once i hit 20 mph the front end wants to jump out of the water making it uncontrolable it doesnt do it all the time but it does most of the time thanks kman

This is actually a design flaw of this boat. Rookie101, a moderator on these boats, may be able to give you some pointers. But, from what I've read from the other Merc owners, they bought the trim tabs and put them on the boat to stop this.

My boat came with a manual operated VTS. Not many of the jet boats came with this feature. I don't know why because it's a great feature to have on a boat.

Easy fix

That tends to be a pretty quick fix on these boats. If you have a look at the ride plate under the nozzle you will notice it is adjustable. Just loosen the jam nuts a adjust the plate to it's lowest position....... problem solved.

Everyone I've talked to has been able to put an end to their porpoising problem with this adjustment, but also be sure to pay attention to how you load your boat. Do not try to keep all your gear stored at the back of the boat, but rather spread it evenly around, or bias it toward the bow a bit.
