Hi, just a quick question I have an 08 RXT 215 with a shock that has gone bad. I bought a new one but am mistified why it is so hard to compress to re-install. Does anyone know of an easier way to install this shock.

Thanks:confused:

That's how gas shocks are. My rxtx came off the lid support rod. I couldn't budge it. Had dealer do it. They said they remove the bracket, hook it up and reattach the bracket.

Thanks,

I found a thread that said to remove two bolts from the the deck mount, installed great however the shock tends to buckle and disconnect once the deck is closed. Anyone know of a fix. :(

does it disconnect at the ball stud? If so, the retainer clip may be too loose, may be able to bend it for more tension.

Ya, It disconnects at the top. It seems that the metal bracket that holds the top ball joint is binding on the shock and pushing it out. Have you had problems like this. The linkage seems to have some horizontal movement and nothing seems bent.

I had the same problem brand new. The ball socket looks bent, but I don't think it is. I just had it fixed last week under warranty, so I'll see if it comes off again.

I replaced vmine with a new one and it disconnected 3 times, my RXT was brought into Canada from the States so I have zero warranty.

Finally took the whole unit apart front deck off and found that the support lever was bent, I straightend it out in a vice and now works great. Found a great link at Rivamotorsports.com that gave the part ID and #.
