this weekend a novice flipped my XP and it stayed upside down for about 30 seconds. When I swam to it and pulled it to shore it would not crank. I pulled the spark plugs and alot of water came out. What should I do Now?

Also the key/lanyard came unplugged, but the ski kept running upside down until the start/stop was pressed.

Thank you!

i just did the same thing with mine. I just kept the spark plugs out and kept turning it over until i got all the water out. You need to get the seadoo out of the water though. I drained my battery a couple of times so just know that it takes awhile to get all the water out. Mine is running fine now.

Make sure the spark plugs are still firing.

I would get it fired up as quickly as possible so as not to lead to rust and corrosion and possible engine seizure. Remove the spark plugs and leave the caps on the grounding post. Turn the engine over to remove the water from the cylinders. Spray a little wd-40 in the cylinders to help displace the water. Hit the starter for a few seconds at a time letting it cool down abit while trying to get the water out. When it seems like all the water is out insert the spark plugs and get it started. Use the choke or a little fuel and injector oil as a premix to help fire it up. Don't use starting fluid. If it doesn't fire up repeat the procedure. Pull the spark plugs, hit the starter, insert spark plugs get it to fire up. Time is of the essence. the longer it takes to get it fired up the more chance of damage to the internal engine components.

Keep us posted on your progress.

Karl,

Hate to hijack a thread but is starting fluid not good for jet ski's? We have a 95 Kawasaki that will only start with a shot of starting fluid when it's cold. Runs fine the rest of the day.
