I know this has been talked about a lot over the forum, but I was just curious if this process would damage or hinder the seal or bearing by bringing it down to freezing level. I have heard of guy's putting it into the freezer and have not mentioned anything about damage to internal parts of the pump.

No it won't hurt anything, but I doubt it will work, I've never had any success using the freezer method, but give it a try, let us know how it turns out.

I have tried it with my Seadoo Speedster 200 pump and it didn't work for me. I may not have left it in the freezer long enough and I am somewhat impatient. There are no bearings in the pump end to worry about with one the seals really to worry about but some care and things will be fine. As I said, it didn't work for me but good luck.

I've used it twice and first time was didn't work as i left in for only an hour. let it warm back up to room temp then back in for 1.5 hours and slipped out and back in no trouble.
Second ring replacement left just for the 1.5 hours and no trouble once again.
Hasn't caused any damage to bearings as they contract when freezing but don't forget. Freeze point of steel and alloy is a lot lower than the plastic ring.
Essentially your taking down to freezing point of the plastic ring to allow it to contract, otherwise the alloy housing would shrink also and therefor you wouldn't be able to remove ring with no effort.
Give it a try, you will be amazed at the easy you can swap a ring.
p.s don't forget to freeze the new ring when you do pump. It needs to contract also.

only works on metal pumps and on mostly freshwater use. Salt will get between the pump and ring and it makes it hard to remove.

Tried on my metal pump that was only fresh water and after 2 hours in the freezer, the thing would not budge... Had to cut it out.

I use my boat is salt water and never had an issue of salt holding the ring in.
Also have a mate with older ski that has plastic pump on it and he changes the ring by freezing also.
I guess its finding the right amount of time to freeze that will make the difference.
