So I put the new wear ring in last night, greased the impeller shaft where it goes into the pump... this was my first time doing this... and when I took it apart, I guess the impeller boot rolled off the table... anyways, put everything back together, including a new neoprene seal and "the right stuff" sealant/gasket maker between hull/pump and pump/venturi? (2nd piece of pump). So I wake up this morning.... go in the garage.. and find the impeller boot on the ground!!!!! Argh!!!!! sucks.
So now I gotta pull the pump again, and scrape all this gasket crap off (I guess), to reinstall this impeller boot. I guess I have learned my lesson on this one.. I usually put everything I take off in a cardboard box, so there are no leftover pieces.

Extra parts aren't a good thing...It's a good thing that you found it and not completely forgot it. Taking pictures when disassembling somethings helps too.

:agree: One thing I do when I take a lot of things apart is use ziploc bags. Label the bags from what it came off of and but the bolts washers seals whatever in there. When I removed my engine I had like 20 or so bags labeled with everything in them and no extra or missing parts.
I like Karls picture idea too.

yeah good idea guys... it wasn't that hard to get the pump back off and the "right stuff" gasket stuff off either... put the boot on, greased well, and off she went.
