FOR ALL YOU X4 hull Lovers

i don't know much (anything) about race hulls so i'll go ahead and ask a stupid question (because I really have no idea)

how can it bee 175 pds lighter when the stocker only weighs 440 ish ?

that's 265 lbs

and a bare engine is what... 80 ?

that doesn't leave much for a hull and everything else...

If I was to make a guess I would think a race hull would be like 40 lbs lighter at best... but maybe i'm wayyyy off.

quote from the ad:

The hull is almost half the weight of a production hull at 175 pounds.

Maybe he means the stock hull weighs 175 and this one weighs 50% of that = about 87 lbs.

Tim, you're right if this hull weighs 175 at 50% then the stock weighs 350 + motor+ misc = way more than the 440 or so.

This is the Father of Justin Landis selling these. He was 1fastXP(something close to that) on the forums. Tragically he was taken last year in a motorcycle accident before he was able to build these. He did build some great X4's though. Anyone ever see youtubes like 63MPH 96XP or Group K 64.8 matched and beaten(?), stuff like that.

The hulls are carbon fiber. Dustin Farthing won the world finals in 98 on a hull that looked just like that one. That was the year he used the "Jake Brake" that was made illegal afterwords. A lever on left hand would not only drop the nozzle and the cable operated trim tabs but a piece would slide down lower than the hull. This allowed him to run WOT right up to the turn without having to slow down sooner for the turn like everyone else. The IJSBA does not like things that could snag a fallen rider.

In the ad he says he has 2 of these for sale , must have cost BIG money . I live 25 mins from where they are located

RacerXXX lives three minutes from him. Now if I get only find a way to get on here for about $800. I heard one man can lift them so SDB might be on to something with the weight question.

didn't some guy that is active on pwcToday buy a whole bunch of hulls from him ?
or is that a different lot of race hulls. (i'm too lazy to go look for the thread)

I think both these guys bought from the same stash. The stuff was stored in a container or two. I have got my hands on an engine, pipes, total loss ignition systems, and a brand new BRR Miller head.
