well I managed to get my flywheel off with the puller tool and a little heat but it ending up flying off about three feet hitting the shop floor in the process not sure if this damage was caused by the fall or pulling it out anyway do you guys think this is salvageable or am I looking at buying a new onepic2.jpgpic1.jpg

Ok,, from what I can see by enlarging the picture and zooming in as best I could, it looks to me that the flywheel hit something while spinning. I say this as it looks to be pulled from it's mounting area and yu see metal that is clearly crushed and moved. I do not think you could have done that with the puller. There is a chance you could have broken it from the mounting, but very unlikely you caused the hitting or marring.

All that said, it is probably trashed as there really is no way to remount that part without welding or somethige like that for example. And the moment you do that, you will lose the balance.

Lets let others that have specific knowledge jump in, but I feel pretty confident based on your pictures...

Ok thanks that's what I was afraid of thanks for they input!

Can you see what it hit? Something might have been stuck in there and got jammed like a random bolt. Or the motor itself.

No I didn't see anything but something defiantly could have fallen out When it went flying off but I didn't notice anything. I have the motor at work but when I go in on Monday I will look into it.I just looked on eBay and the flywheel for my 657x is fairly cheap but I prob need to figure out the root of issue before I reinstall.

Check with Minnetonka4me or his brother. They both participate here at the site and sell parts. Both very knowledgable.

Yup got lots of them in stock. the scrape is super weird though...you should figure out how that happened. Did it his something as it hit the floor?

I dont think so Im looking at the magnito and it is messed up to looks like severe rubbing at high rpm there is actually a chunk missing on one of coils on the outside I will post a pick when i get home from work. so I might need that also.do you have a website to purchase?

I figured you would see a matching scrape.

I think I figured out what happened I was looking at the flywheel and noticed this weird chunk stuck to the inner side by the magnet then I saw that a tooth was missing from the flywheel outside I matched them up and they fit perfect so Im guessing that the gear tooth broke and fell inside all before I took everything apart so its prob good that Im doing an engine overhaul!

That would do it,,,,

Do you happen to know what would cause a tooth to break? last time out I sucked rocks into my pumps but limped back on that engine with bad cavitation and constant stops and startups I didnt realize what the damage was till I looked into the pumps when it was on the trailer. Very stupid!! I should have got a tow back but being new to all of this i didn't realize that I was prob causing more damage! oh well live and learn the hard expensive way!

Crazy. . Never seen anything like it.

You are going to need a stator too. My website is pretty general but you can PM me and once we work out a deal you can Paypal me direct. I can walk you through it.

Sorry I edited bc I missed the last picture before I posted. I doubt it's a crank in this instance. I have had a few though where the bad crank wrecked the flywheel and stator.

That's cool no prob but you are right the crank is bad but I think it's just the seals Im going to have a coworker take a look he wrenches on sleds and skis so he might know a little more. There were metal frags coating everything but I think it's from the pistons. But I will check out what you were talking about. Thanks!
