I'm not a master mechanic...but removing the fuse and soldering the gap seems a bit risky. The fuse was there for a reason. Can't this be a fire hazard? This is located IN THE GAS TANK.

Everyone seems to be really supportive of this method...and I think its a good idea...I would just liek to know what the risks are..if any?

Our son fixed ours with that method. Seemed very simple. Remove it from the boat and do it in a well ventilated area.

Fixed mine as well and I am by no means good at soldering. Just follow the directions and post up if you have questions. Lots of people have done it.

I think he means, What about that fuse?

So, there is a fuse in the system, and there isn't one after the fix....

I think the question is:
Is there a risk/issue with loosing the protection formerly provided by the fuse.

I do not know the answer to that.

I know about the fuse fix, and it works, personally I wouldn't do it. There's just something about cutting into a fuel baffle that's 15 plus years old, and soaking in fuel that bothers me, I would just buy a good used one.

Also there's a reason that fuse is there.
