Anyone with this model have problems with the fuel gauge / sending unit? I know they go bad over time. Is it difficult to replace? or take it to a shop?

I'm pretty mechanical and usually do my own boat work, but I'm not too keen on messing around with the fuel system. This is the ONLY probelm I have with this boat, and would like to fix it.

had the same problem with my 98 speedster. this actually happens to most seadoos. first step is to unplug the connector to the sending unit it and stick a jumper wire or paper clip from i believe the black wire and the black/pink wire. the colors may be off but there should be 3 wires and with the battery switch on key OFF the dess post press either start /stop switch and it should give the gauges power for about 30 secs or so and that point use that jumper wire and if you get a full reading its most likely the fuse inside the baffle/sending unit. you can either search this forum or youtube how to fix it. basically you pull the sending unit should be 3 clamps and take off the 4 hoses attached to it making sure you remember which one goes where when you put it back. then u can cut open the baffle at the top and usually the F1 fuse blows and you can remove it using a soldering gun and either replace the fuse .5 amp or just fill it back in with some solder and people use zip ties to plastic weld the baffle back together works great. if the jumper wire doesnt give you a reading when u have power on the boat then u may have another problem, but what i just described is pretty common. good luck its a pretty easy fix tho

Stick to 1 thread per topic. I answered your other one.

There are 3 main reason the gas gauge quits working. 1 the gauge actually goes bad. 2. The float in the tank is bad because the magnets fall off. or 3, the F1 fuse in the tank is bad. That is actually very common on these boats, and would be my guess. I havent had to fix mine since it still works. But quite a few others have. There is a way to test the wires and see what the problem is. Try searching words like fuel gauge fix. Another member who i know has done it on the speedster is Tresvatos1, maybe try to PM him. Here is a link to where he fixed his.
