I have had several different types of ffs in my 2001 Challenger. The display is the easy part.
3 types of transducer mount.
Transom.
In hull. Reads THRU the hull. Many problems with accuracy.
Thru hull. Best to have experienced tech do it. Best accuracy.
The transom mount transducer is a pita. 4 out of 4 have had their mounts ripped apart destroyed by the reverse jet stream. No. 5 is ok after 3years, but does not read well while moving due to vibration.
I would hate to drill a large hole in the bottom of my boat, but if I had to do it again, I would use the thru hull option.
