Hey guys how is it going? Im new hear, in fact my first post. I just purchased my first 2 PWC's, they are both seadoo's.

#1) 2000 GSX RFI

#2) 1994 XP

The question i have is related to what procedures should i follow to get these babys out on the water. They currently are winterized. I am a premium member and have the shop manuals. But i couldnt really locate a de-winterizing procedure and spring tune up recomendations. Any help that could be offered would be grately appreciated!!

Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Ivanek. Welcome to the forum and congrats on your purchase.

Do you know what exactly was done when they winterized it? Did they use the extra precautions using the antifreeze?

If they filled the water jackets with antifreeze, drain the remaining antifreeze from cooling system prior using the watercraft.

Spring tune up, I would just put some fresh properly gapped plugs in it. Make sure they used a fuel stabilizer in the fuel, if not I would replace all the fuel in them.

After doing the above I would have my batteries tested and if all is good there run on the cooling for a few minutes. When doing this make sure you turn the engine on first then turn on the water. When finished turn the water off, then the engine. While it's running on the hose check to make sure water it flowing out of the out ports from the cooling system, little stream of water shooting from the hull. This means cooling system is clear.

he said he sprayed fog oil, anti freeze in the cooling lines, and stabil in the fuel tank

Also was wondering, are there any user guides of sorts as far as "after each use, and routine maintenance?"

and lastly is there a way to run these out of the water, i would like to make sure they run good before every dropping them into the water.

Ok cool. Just drain the antifreeze out and you should be good.

Running it out of the water is what I was talking about in my previous post. In the manual there is a section on flushing, it is under the Maintenance section.
Main thing to remember when running out of water is:
-do not run it more than 5 min, the jet pump bearings will get too hot b/c they are not in the water.
-always turn the engine on first before turning the water on, when finished turn the water off first and then the engine or you will flood it.

In the manual there is a PERIODIC INSPECTION CHART that will have a lot of info for service.

After each use it you should flush if it has been driven in salt water, if not no need to flush. After you pull it out of the water it's a good idea to turn it on for just a few seconds to get the excess water out of the cooling system.

Also it's a good idea too take the plugs out a give a few shots of wd-40 in the holes to disperse any water that could condensate in there.

Ok great!!! thanks for the tips, i can tell i will not regret paying to join this forum. Ya there not going to see salt water as i live on Lake Erie

(ok purchased the flush kits for both ski's today)

after browsing the manual a bit today i have a few more questions..

1) how does the cooling system draw water into itself? i cant see if there is a pump, or vacuum. i must be missing something

2) how much oil do they use? looking at buying it, wondering does gallon last a year or is a case the smarter choice i plan on riding a decent amount

and lastly
3) the guy i bought them from apperantly didnt have to much common sence as he never stored them covered, so there is some discoloration and fading, along with mildew...any recomendations on what to use to clean, polish and buff these baby's back to life? there not bad but i would rather they look as good as possible:cheers:

Thanks!

In your manual there is a diagram that will explain it better than I can. Look under Section 05 COOLING SYSTEM
Subsection 02 (CIRCUIT, COMPONENTS AND CARE)
It all works of the jet pump.

I usually go through about a fuel tank of oil per season. Just depends how you ride though.

When I bought my XP there was a lot of mildew stains on the rubber where you put your feet. I bought this stuff at home depot call Mold Armor, worked pretty good. It has bleach in it so don't use a whole lot and don't get it on your clothes.

A lot of people here use Star Brite products to shine the hull real good.
