Just bought our first boat a couple weeks ago.
Previous owner told me there was less then 80 hours on it.
Had it out 3 of four days after purchasing it and was really disappointed with its performance once I was able to play around with it on my own.
It just didn't want to come out of the water quickly and I had to baby the throttle or it would just get upset with me and start to whine.

Decided to drop it off at the dealer for a once over and see what they can tell me.
Dealer tells me there is actually 123 hours on it. ( 6 of it would of been us)
So SC rebuild is obvious and they also suggested a new wear ring and impeller.
The SC kit was back ordered for a week and we got the boat back today.
When I picked it up they told me that after a more detailed inspection the mechanic decided the new impeller was not necessary but went ahead with the wear ring replacement.

The service guys told me the Super charger was actually slipping so my question is. Should I expect like new performance and be pushed back in my seat when I hit the throttle?
Or am i expecting to much out of this heavy boat (1900lbs)with the simgle SC 215hp engine.

Should I be able to hammer down the throttle and hae it jump out of the water with 2 adults in the boat?

Please let me know of any comments you may have in the overall performance of this boat.

Thank you in advance

I have the 2006 version of your same boat, but I also had a 2004 Sportster LE-DI, and when I upgraded to the Challenger the most noticeable changes were the heavier weight, slower handling, and natural decrease on take off speed. My Challenger only has 40 hrs on it, so I've not yet had to rebuild the SC, but with 2 people, full gas tank, at wide open throttle from dead stop, it should push you back into your seat and the bow should rise nicely then plane off. I dont expect your's will jump out of the water, but there should be a much improved take off punch. Let us know how it worked out.

I used to have one of these and yes, if everything is working correctly then you will notice a great improvement in acceleration, hole shot on these is not bad with 2 in the boat, load her up with 4 adults and a few kids and it wont pull the skin off day old gravy unless you distribute the weight effectively around the boat (remember mother in law in the front....)

Curious as to which dealers you had your boat in at? A dealer who declined to do work that thye could have charged you for, wow, thats a rarity normally its a long list of extra stuff they found, not stuff they decided was not required after all!

Just curious as to what the final bill was too? Was wondering what the damage would have been if I'd took it to the dealers.

Thanks for the response guys.

After it was all said and done the final bill was $1100 CDN.

The dealership is in Fredericton, NB.

I was happy with the results and feel like the expectations I had were a little high for the performance of this boat.

It does jump out of the water a lot better after the SC rebuild and the new wear ring.

The weather has been awful the last two weeks here and we've only had it out once since we got the boat back from the dealer. Canada day weekend is this weekend so we're looking forward to good weather.
