Moving in on July 4th weekend. Puts us ON the lake in our neighborhood, and about 10 minutes from the boat ramp.

We have fishing and lake access in the neighborhood but need to drive a little to get to a ramp.

We will stay here for a year or until our current house sells then move to a neighborhood ON the lake WITH a private boat launch.

At least we no longer have to drive 1.5-2 hours to put the boat in the water!!! :hurray::hurray::hurray:

Thats awesome man. Congrats and yes post some pictures for sure.

Let me clarify...NEIGHBORHOOD is on the lake, not the house. We still have a 10 minute drive to the park at the south end of the lake to launch.

Just found out that the park launch is open again. They had it closed early in June to fix damage from Hurricane Ike to the docks, and the sign said closed through August (yeah, right...close one of the two public launch sites for the entire season...) but another local member said it was all open two weekends ago, so we are back ON!

Glad to hear the short run to the water, there must be more than one place to dip in case you find it really closed.

There are several launches on the lake, the park is the ony free one. The rest are either in neighborhoods where you need a special sticker to use the launch, or a key, and the rest are private launches that require payment each time you use them.

I looked up the news and apparently the park IS open. They have 6 lanes of launches so you never have to wait.
