Filling Battery

I"m filling a battery for my seadoo and i can't tell if it's at the upper level or not because it's black on the outside. Any help?

Fill it till it runs out...when it is charged it will needed more acid as it charges. Then I use a chop stick from Chinese food to dip it in and check the level.
