faulty leaking rave valves - low compression

hey there,

just wondering if the RAVES have anything to do with proper compression? I noted my Rave valves this year are leaking slightly oil (sticky oil not runny oil) around the gasket where it fits the motor, and it so happens the machine run like crap this year, compression test 70 psi in one cylinder and 100 in the other (951 carb engine). Wondering if the leaking Rave might have anything to do with it, or if we looking at engine tear down to rebuild. This in a 98 GSX LTD

If you pull the RAVE valve off you can look at the sides of the piston to determine if there is anything wrong

Are you using a good, reliable compression guage...cheap ones are known to give false readings? Can get a rented one for free from auto parts stores.
