I have two 2006 GTI SE's and today when out at the lake my daughter told me hers had a flashing code, FT with a series of 5 dashes after it, This is what it looked like ( FT -- --,-- --,-- --,-- --,-- --) then the temperature and repeat FT code. These are LED digital displays. These both have only 82 hours on them and I have regularly serviced them myself. I have searched this site and see the thread for the 2003 and older PWC's but that isn't the way my 2006's are?? What does this code FT with 5 series of dashes mean ? Is there a place to look up codes? I Surely hope someone here can give me some advice and info as I don't /won't let the girls ride them till this is figured out! Can't afford to screw them up and have to pay to fix em......
Thanks for any assistance/ advice.

I don't think so ? I don't think they have a depth finder because they are twins and the one with the FT code with flashes did it all over the whole lake and at the ramp too, while the good one only shows temperature the whole time. I switched keys and tried both Learner and Rider keys and it does the same thing. It even shows FT code on land ??? Does anyone here know anything in regards to this ????? I really thought there would be SOMEONE here with some insight on where to find Fault codes for these 2006 skis on this site ???? CAN ANYONE offer insight ????

Jason, While I appreciate your response, I still am not sure that you are correct. I saw that same information on the sticky by seadoosnipe and those are for 2003 and earlier skis on the instructions. Mine are 2006 year models and do not have anything but a DSS key system and the digital dash. There is no where or place to press enter or to clear codes or information about codes! On one it shows a FT with 5 series of dashes while the other operates correctly as it always has with nothing but Temperature and 82 Hours. Neither ski has EVER shown a depth nor a FT code with dashes ever before! Out of over 50 plus views does NO ONE HERE know what I am talking about? DO I need to buy some sort of scan tool that needs to be hooked up to the ski to read the series of dashes? There are NO numerical codes as in your description, just this series of 5 dashes. WHY would dashes indicate depth?? Please clarify ?

The procedure for retrieving codes is as follows:

1.With safety lanyard on its post, press 5 times the SET button to start the display of P-codes (onboard diagnostic).
2.Press MODE to scroll codes if more than one is present. When "list" is over, END will appear.
3.When END appears, press MODE to exit

I do not have any way of hitting a SET button or a MODE button on my skis???

To get a list of stored codes from your computer, for 4TEC skis up to 2003: with the engine off, plug in your lanyard and hit SET 5 times. If nothing happens you need a dealer to read the codes. Here is a list of what they mean, if any come up:

Here is the list of trouble codes displayed on all Sea-Doo 4-stroke 4-TEC equiped skis. It will take a dealer and parts to cure most of these, but it at least gives you an indication of the fault, and sometimes you can replace the part yourself.

P-Fault Codes:

P0106
Manifold atmospheric presure sensor out of range

P0107
Manifold atmospheric presure sensor

Sorry, but on a 2006, you need to either take your ski to someone that has Candoopro or BUDS, or just buy the Candoopro and do it yourself.

The 2006 models have an MPEM, which stores the settings for things like lake temp sensor, VTS, and Depth Gauge. The MPEM's sometimes lose the settings, so things like depth gauge, VTS etc get enabled or disabled at random. This is likely what has happened here.

To change the settings, your need........ you guessed it...... Candoopro to reset it.

Thank You for your good advice. Any idea where I can get a Candoopro and about how much do they cost? Thanks so much!

Never mind, I hit your hotlink and see they are $400 so Ill try my local shop maybe? Thanks again!

I realize $400 is a pricey tool. Just be aware with 2 skis... you can spread the cost over both of them. Also it comes with license to use it on 4 skis if you know someone else with a Seadoo that would help you recoup some of the costs.

With the candoo you can do quite a bit of things like read and reset codes, program keys, reset maintenance, etc. I have 2 2006 RXT's, When I got them each had their own keys and I was able to program each ski to use all 4 keys. Very handy.

I have no affiliation with Candoopro. Just wanted to shed some light on the flexability and handiness of the software etc.

I assume the CanDoo only works with PC computers and not apple? How easy is the software/tool to use for those of us who are not computer inclined?

Good point about averaging the cost. Still a little pricey though? I have never had the use for one before and am not sure how much longer I will keep the skis as my 3 daughter's are college bound now and I have more bills coming!
I am still perplexed by the FT code with the 5 dashes after it! I would have thought someone here, had experienced this before and could have commented on that specific code just as seadoosnipe had posted all of the P Fault codes for the 2003 earlier models? Hasn't someone had a FT 5 dash code before????

Regardless Thanks for your advice!

I use it on a PC laptop. The soft ware is very easy to use and comes with instructions in print and in the software. You can refer to the instructions on how to do things like program keys, or clear codes at any time.

FT 5 in not a dash code. Reread Sea dood post. MEPEM is reading you have the depth finder activated. That is why you need to get or bring to somebody with BUDS or CANDOOPRO so that option can be deactivated again. Who knows why it got activated but it did and it is trying to read depth which it can't since no depth transducer is installed and thus the FT and line you are seeing. Deactivate with software and it will go away.
