hey guys,
had a blast in my new(to me) boat the last 3 weeks, got about 65 hrs on it the last 3 weeks, but have a couple of questions.
205 se utopia - 2006- twin 155's
1) factory depth gauge is not working, checked all 3 fuse boxes, all good. tried to find it
on the hull, and inside, and couldn't seem to locate it. does anyone know where it is, and what it looks like? and any thoughts about why it is not working?

2) starboard engine tach seems to be acting funny, i realize both tachs won't read the same as turning, and everything thanks to the info provided to me in another post, but that tach is reading way different sometimes always quite higher, sometimes when i first fire the engines up it is almost 2000rpm more, have lifted engine compartment cover and listened to the motors and they both sound exactly the same the right one was not revving more like the tach said. one time the right tach was wrapped right around of the scale,(other engine was at 5500 or so) and again i listened to engines no difference. and alot of the time 90% i would say it reads fine
any thoughts or ideas?
thanks for your guys time!!

Are you sure you boat has a depth gauge and not just an empty gauge so it could be added later? At least for the speedster 150's the actual depth finder transducer was an option but the gauge on the dash was on every boat. Until 2009(?) when it was made standard.

hmmm intersting never new about that,
i am trying to contact the pervious owner to find out for sure, as he bought the boat new
i found out some info on the boattest website that because it is an SE model that the depth finder
was standard equipment on that boat, so i dont know

I have the 2008 SE with the standard Faria depth sounder. Mine was working but now it just reads 1.8 ft all day long. It appears it is a black 3-4" round unit, mounted under engine about 2 ft from the transom. On the starboard side.....

I have same boat and yeterday mine did the same thing. Does any one know where the transducer is located on these boats??? and is there a way to reset them. Mine will read 0 or my keel offset setting.

Ok,
So after a few weeks of research and speaking with Faria......
I learned that a common cause (which is mentioned in other posts) is the drying up or leaking of mineral oil. Faria says that you should add 1/7 oz of mineral oil to the transducer. Now that isnt so easy for me, since its mounted under the starboard engine.... Ill be installing a new one, and somewhere other than under the engine, so I can maintain it.......

The oil is there to give a true reading thru the hull.It should not leak.It shouldn't have anything to look after. It should be a sealed unit.If after 3 years you have to add 1/7 oz of oil,is it really worth spending a heap of bucks moving the transducer?Just my thoughts

I have the same problem with my sea doo depth finder. At the start of last summer it worked great. By the middle of the summer it was constantly beeping. Bouncing form 0 to 20 ft which was real depth. Is there a place that mineral oil can be added. Can it be added without pulling the engine? Does anyone have pictures or documentation on how to do this?
Thanks
John
