Extraction pump to free Oil-Locked 787s

I have 2 Oil-Locked 787s in a 98 Speedster that have sat for 8 years without the oil lines clamped off (d'oh!). Would passing a fluid extraction pump line through the open carbs into the crankcase be more or less efficient and messy than just cranking & rag method? Granted when I pass the extraction tube into the crankcase the battery will be disconnected to prevent any boneheaded mistakes.

The more oil you can suck out the more it will help save the battery and starter.

Thank you! And that helps cofirm I'm thinking along the right lines. Any other suggestions or tips to help the process or make less of a mess? I've got an idea to keep the mess down I'm going to try after pumping the crankcase and will share here if it works out.
