Seems I'm sucking air through my external fuel pump....can't find any rebuild kits but I can order a new one for $100 strait from seadoo......can I just eliminate this crappy design?

O yea 98 sportster 1800.

Thanks

They stopped selling them. You have to retro fit a univeral 2 outlet Mikuni pump to system is the cheapest way to go. You plug the one outlet and use the other. PaleRider has a nice write up about it here on the site. With the 717 eninges you only need the external 35 ghr units since our boat only use max 31 gph. I am starting the retro right now just becuase of the age of the pumps the univeral ones you can get kits also.

Nice....thanks.....I went to my local dealer they actually have some in stock there....but like you said when these are gone I cant rebuild....but at least if I do the retro I can always rebuild....did you guys have any issue with the old ones? Is this why you changed them out? And if do what was it doing?

Thanks

I am shocked the deal stocks them. Has to be old stock since they are not being made anymore. The rubbers just wear out over time in them.

Yea I looked on line couldn't find them... Was up at the dealer one day and asked if they had any..... He said yup got them in stock.... I was surprised to...

The old pumps were getting worn out and couldn't keep up. It was time to upgrade.

So today I just went up to the dealer and bought one external fuel pump....that's all they had in stock but they ordered another one from seadoo Wearhouse.....said they had plenty....

how much did the dealer charge? You can get 2 universal ones for less than a OEM one. I bought 2 for $70.

Parts list says $91.99 each. I have heard good things about the universal ones. But, the oem would obviously be easier.

They are $91each.....ill spend a little more for a direct bolt on oem......I doubt the next time they need to be changed ill even own the boat....they are original from 1998....

Ok put the one on that they had in stock and it is a world of difference...it's slightly a little bigger.....so it must be recently made or a universal one....bolt holes still line up though...but no more stall out around 3500 rpm and easy start in the water..
