I picked up a 2002 explorer and am in the process of cleanup and getting a few tired parts replaced. Have been digging around this forum for the last couple months. Lots of great info. Thanks!

Question 1: When I was cleaning up the boat I found two hoses in the rear of the hull in the bilge hanging by zipties in the middle. After much searching I haven't been able to see what they are supposed to attach to. In the parts diagram that I could find they appear to float in space and no information on where they connect. part id17, part # 204000063,**FLEXIBLE HOSE 3" (METER) Do I need these?Where do they attach?

Question 2: Bilge blower is not blowing. I don't think that most seadoos have blowers, Do people use this on the Explorer? Anyone have experience in replacing?

thanks!

You have a bilge blower because that is technically a boat so its required. The other hoses you are talking about are most likely bailer lines that get a vaccum pulled on them by the jet pump and suck water out of the bilge, do they have 90degree elbows in them?

You need the blower. It gets rid of explosive fuel vapors as well as draws in fresh air for the engine to start easier.

Thanks for the reply.

The hoses I am talking about are not the bailer lines which I have also located. The bailer lines are 1/4" tubing that go from the strainers up to a T. The hoses I am talking about are 3" in diameter, they look like a slinky (steel coil) covered in thin plastic (vinyl or something). Cannot find anything that they attach to. There is one on either side of the bilge behind the strainers for the bailer attached by a zip tie mid span.

I am aware of what a blower is for but I don't think most seadoos have them. Do they? I have never used them on a seadoo, so maybe my ignorance. The explorer doesn't have much more interior volume than a similar year seadoo so there is the extent of my logic. I'll likely put another blower motor in but wondered if people use them.

I hear your logic but it's my understanding is its part of the coast Guard requirements to run you blower for something life 4 minutes before you start your boat. Maybe it's won't make a difference but I'd hate to blow up if I were wrong

The other 3 inch hoses are for air flow, same kind of hose attached to most blowers. Jet skis dont have the same requirements as boats for stuff like that but the explorer is a boat with handlebars and a jet ski seat. Yea i use my blower but usualy not for the full 4 min :willy_nilly:

10-4 on the blower. I will get the one that is in there working.

I thought the 3" hoses in the rear of the hull were for air distribution. Similar to what I have seen other blowers connected to and what I believe is used for the blower that is located in the console but I can't seem to see where to attach them in the rear of the boat. Anyone have an explorer in which they are connected to something?

thanks!

Air distribution is correct it gets fresh air to the bottom of the hull to help exchange the air in the compartment. Alot of seadoo skis have the hoses in there too connected to the vents also.
