Hi I have purchased some parts for my Seadoo from Babbits about a month ago. Payed 600 dollars. Their website gave me an estimated recieving date about the 18 august, but still my order is listed as pending on their ordertracking site. I am ordering from overseas and I am getting a little worried about my money now, additionally to also having the rest of my boating season destroyed.

Does anybody here have any experience with this company, are they serious or is this a internetscam?

Kind regards

Kasai

I have used them several times, mostly with good results.

But, one time they had a part on backorder, which sounds like what is going on with you.

I finally called them and said to ship what they had, and ordered the backordered parts from another place. They were cool with that and only charged me for what they had on hand.

I was out of the water for 3 weeks over a $2 o-ring, when the rest of the parts were sitting there in a box ready to go.:ack:

I payed with credit card.
What does backorder mean? (I'm from norway so my english skills are not perfect)

Call them

Have you tried calling them? if you paid with a credit card you can simply dispute the charge if you cannot get any information on your order. "Backorder" is a term for when an item is not in stock but should arrive in the future.

Babbitts.....

My first response is, you should have tried the Seadoowarehouse for your order, at least the staff of the forum could assure you, that your money is not lost.........

As with Scooper's reply, Babbitts is one of the largest online distributers of Seadoo parts. The problem is, they do not always have the parts you order, onhand. Especially if the part is for an older model Seadoo......"Onhand" means it's there in the warehouse, ready to be shipped. "Backorder" means they do not have the part and are trying to find it through another vendor. In the end, it usually cost the buyer a bit more money because a third party was involved. So, in the future, make sure you ask, when ordering a product,...do you have this onhand or will you have to backorder it? They have to tell you.

With their reputation, I think your money is fine. My suggestion to you is, if they have not mailed it out as they stated they would, call them and tell them to cancel your order and re-credit your credit card.

Then, find a reputable distributer and make a new order. When you do, ask them if this part is onhand or would it be a back order. Anytime they say backorder, politely say no, thats o.k.....because that means your paying a third party price.

Thanks

Thank you for all replies,

Next time I will offcourse use seadoowarehouse.com

I was trying too save a few dollars, but have learned my lesson now.

By the way it was Rave gasget's and bellows I ordered too, so there is probably the explanation.

But my order was plased in the beginning off August, so I'm wondering how freakin' long does it take for them to get their backorder parts :-(

Backorder sometimes happens because there are no parts being produced at the current time. This could be where a producer makes a batch of parts every 6 months, or it could be that they may never make them again.

Backorder can also occur just because the parts dealer hasn't ordered from the producer in a while and doesn't have the parts on the shelf in their warehouse.

So, backorder can last a couple days to forever...:ack:

I placed an order for a Yamaha with Babbit's on a Monday July 11th with delivery promised within 2 weeks. They showed up in less than a week...2 separate pkgs but I got them sooner than promised.

I see some bad talk about SBT engine rebuilders.....what's up there?

Man you guys still have it pretty good. Try living on a little island in the middle of no where. (Australia) Everything has to be ordered in so can really take some time to get here.
