Exhaust port nut

1996 GTI:
Is there some magical way to loosen the giant exhaust port nut? My exhaust port cracked in half over the winter. I can barely get my hand down there and it’s on really tight.

Here’s a photo of what I’m talking about but it’s deep down in back of hull. (Exhaust outlet nut). My extra wide jaw channel locks aren’t getting it either and I can barely fit those in there to even try.

IF you can find a piece of PVC pipe that is just a little bigger you can heat it with a heat gun and mold it to fit the nut. I used to make tools this way for the VTS and Gauge nuts. Just heat and mold and heat and mold a little at a time until you get it over the entire nut.

Thank you for replies. Anyone ever heard of or experienced an exhaust outlet breaking or coming out in the middle of riding? I imagine water would rush in and fill the hull quite quickly?

I designed and 3D printed a tool to remove the exhaust outlet on a 1996 GTI... not sure what other models this will work for but it worked great on mine. If anyone wants one I can 3D print one and ship it for $35. I may make it a downloadable file soon as well.
