I was driving my boat yesterday no problems was running awesome , got home and started to flush out the motors . Port side motor would not start when hooked up to garden house so I opened up the engine bay and noticed there was a fairly large leak coming from the exhaust manifold gasket , the nut where the 1 stud must have raddled loose cause it was not there , I got no issues fixing The gasket , I’m just wondering why my motor did not start , could It be that all the water coming from the leak and spraying all over the engine got inside my carbs or is there a back pressure issue with the leak ? Thanks

I always do that get the water flowing though then start , the one engine wouldn’t start so I had a look then noticed they giant leak at the gasket because the nut loosened off

I've never flushed mine , but I know if you turn water on before starting or no start , it'll fill the motor up with water . You might have to drain/ flush it asap, maybe someone else will chime in or check your manual asap. I believe the manual says drain/flush in 24hrs or the motor will need to be overhauled, I believe you take the sparkplugs out and have to turn it over but there's a sequence so you don't ruin the starter

I run my
Boat in the ocean and always turn house on for about 30 seconds to get the salt water out then flash up the motors for 30 seconds or so shut off house and our boat away never had an issue I’ve owned the boat for 2 years and done it every single time I come out of water

K , but that can fill the engine up in 30 seconds , and if you had a no start on the one motor and left water on for minutes it's probably full of water and possibly hydrolocked, maybe someone else will chime in, what year and boat do you have

It’s a 1996 seadoo speedster twin jet 800’s , I have many times just flushed it aswell with out even turning the motors on , maybe I’m
Not suppose to do that I don’t know but I’ve done that lots just hose no start

Well I can tell you you are doing it completely wrong. You better pull your spark plugs and crank it because your engine is probably full of water.

You CAN NOT, I repeat CAN NOT turn the hose on, on any Seadoo with the engine off or the exhaust will fill with water, then your cylinders then your crankcase.

It is always......
1. Engine ON.
2. Hose ON.
3. Hose OFF.
4. Engine OFf.

If if's and's or but's about it.

All is good I put a new gasket took spark plugs out cranked over there was a tiny bit of water in there , put spark plugs back in purs like a kitty , thanks for the info

You better go run it hard immediately in the water. That water in the cylinders will destroy your crank bearings.
