Exhaust Leak question

Just a quick question. I have a significant amount of warm water coming in the hull which points me to an exhaust leak. I didn't see any obvious leaks but I didn't have to time to troubleshoot in the water. Will I be able to see a common leak with the boat hooked up to a hose? Wasn't sure if it was enough pressure to see anything.

Sometimes you can... sometimes you can't. I'd say you are better off in the lake since the pump will pressurize the system better.

Also... don't assume an exhaust leak. It could be a cracked jug if it wasn't winterized properly, or just a simple leak in a hose.

In the water is better for testing.

I had a leak at the exhaust rave valve. Not the rave valves on the engine, but the one that looks like a rave valve that is on the exhaust pipe.

Ok So I finally had time to drop it back in the water with a second person to drive so I could watch the engine bay to find the leak. I found the problem. Water is going backwards through the hose that is used to flush the engine with. I know in stock form there was a plastic fitting that I assume was a one way valve. Mine was broken last year so I replaced it with a standard garden hose female end. I know lots of people replace that stock valve with what I have done. What are you all using to keep water from backflowing out? I know I could rig up something to do it, I just wanted to see what others are using.
