Yup, it's true.
First trip out with the new (to me) boat.Launched okay, idled through the canal to the lake, then added throttle, lot's of noise,no go.Buddy suggests turn it off, wait a minute, start it and wow off we go:hurray:
played around for about 40 min then went to shore ,or as close as we can get, buddy picked up his 2 little girls, and wife.Off we go,drove for another 15 min.,did a couple of quick turns:hurray:,noticed the girls loved the turns, and did a half throttle sharp turn:hurray:,took on a little water this time, boat stalled.( Never started again)
Took the fuel line off and cranked it over into bucket.Water!!
Fishing boat nearby towed us close the shore where every body got out(in 2ft of mud)I stayed in the boat to paddle to the nearest launch, which really was 10 miles away
I paddled for about 45 min against the wind gaining maybe 40ft.Buddy (on the shore)meanwhile talks nearby marina owner to lending him a Kayak(finally the Kayak)comes out hooks on and drags,I mean drag through the mud,me to shore where we could load it
Moral:
Don't go boating on a lake to low to land ashore
Don't buy cheap safety equipment to please officals(paddle broke in half after 2 strokes)
Drain gas from used boat when buying
Don't try out a new boat when there is no one else on the lake,or late in the day:chillpill:

Thanks for the advice, I will be trying my boat for the first time this coming weekend, I know nothing about this type of boat, I hope my first run of it won't be as eventful as yours

Want it done right...do it yourself!

Rule or thumb...I bought my 08, 200speedster, from a very reputable dealer. When I got it home, before I launched it, I checked all the fluids, connections, cable adjustments, Battery condition, wire connections and everything I could think of that could go wrong. This is a brand new boat serviced and delivered with a clean bill of health and a full 100% warranty. I depend on no one but myself and people are human too and can forget some things. It is very rear I get in a bind of that nature. The 1 Hour of pre run checks gave me peace of mind and confidence I would make shore again with a smile on my face.
That's just me...:)

wow, Lee - you sure are having some adventures with this new boat. You're going to have the best stories on here for a while from the sounds of it!

I dont know if this makes you feel any better, but you're making me more and more glad that I bought an 08 model! Just think though, you *are* learning about the thing much faster than I will . . .

adventures

wildziner,Like my buddy said helping me pull the boat through the mud: We don't get together often enough, but when we do,it's always an adventure:rofl:
We'll have a great story to tell, learn from it and move on:)
Hey, that's what we're here for,to share and learn. I'll know this boat inside and out before we're done:cheers:

Never got towed by a Kyak, but my dads old 18' Baja- a 65+mph boat had to get towed in by a WINDSURFER due to a blown lower unit lol. Pretty embarrassing to have a flashy, fast ass boat towed in by a windsurfer hahaha. I was only about 12 at the time and even I felt emasculated lol.
