You could probably use what ever type you choose. The epoxy paint might hang on longer, if surface preparation is done well, .......but, the best solution is to match the gelcoat. The manual recommends you contact Gelcoat International LTD. For information you can use their toll free line at 1-877-435-2683 or email them at Gelcote@comnet.ca.
Thanks to all of you for your prompt response.
Actually my problem is not due to a worn gel coat, it was caused when I tried to pull my boat on the trailer (Karavan), using the whinch.
I used the boat in a sandy beach.
I don´t know why the hull hit the axle bar of the trailer when pulling it from the sand using the winch, and that is why the gel coat was removed. Bad design of the trailer ????
I´ll send a picture.
Thanks.
I have the same boat and trailer and have never had a problem. I know there was another member on here that was have the same problem as you. Im not sure if he found a solution though but i do know it has alot to do with the angle of the trailer when launching or loading the boat. If i find the thread ill post it. Can you find a diffrent place to put your boat in and out? you can also maybe put something on the axle to help protect the boat.
Ok i cant find that post but i just measure the distance between the bottom of my boat and the trailer axle and theres only 2in. If you look at the leaf springs youll see that the axle is mounted on the top. you can mount the axle on the bottom of the leaf spring and that should give you a couple more inch of clearance.
