99 Challenger 1800 I am purchasing. Once the engine lid was closed it wouldnt re open. I am assuming the cable is broken somewhere. Any other quick release methods when this happens?

Actually, it could be the shocks. To test: get two people, one to pull the latch, and one to open the lid. If the lid opens after latch is pulled, then you know it unhooked, so the cable is good. I had this problem. After time, the shocks wear out and can no longer lift the lid. They can be found at any auto parts store for pretty cheap.

We had tried that already. Its still latched shut. Any other suggestions?

I just replaced the cable on my 98 Speedster. I don't know if your set up is the same, but if it is similar you should be able to see the cable going into the latch. I had to use a screwdriver to push the metal part of the cable towards the opening in the latch then have someone pull on the lever while you're moving the cable with the screwdriver. Not sure if that will work for you, but you can try it if you have a similar set up.
