Ok so one should never trust a "friend" to help unless your 100% certain they know what in the heck they are doing.

Here is my problem... We have a 1999 GTI and have done repair to the Freeze plug and in doing so we simply took off the exhaust.

My problem is I think someone who was helping may have actually damaged the screws that hold the curvy muffler part to the manifold.

I think someone broke off the screw that is the difficult one to get to in the support bracket.

So my questions is should all 4 screws be the same ? or are they different?

Please let me know if you I need to provide more information. I can try to attach pictures or images from the microfishe.

thanks in advance any help is GREATLY APPRECIATED!

if you are talking about the four on top Three easy to get to.... and one under the pipe...

Thats how they should be, the three are bolts and the fourth under the pipe is a stud that a nut goes on. (there would be no way to get a bolt in there)

yes I know... and was trying to do the best to explain or describe.

So Now I'm looking for a new exhaust manifold and I'm not sure which exhaust manifolds will work...

I've found some that say will fit any 787/800 seadoo engine... .does anyone know if this would work for me?

I also ride motorcycles and know that "SOMETIMES" the same part can be used on multiple modles... yet I'm not sure if this would be the same for SeaDoo's...

anyone??

Thanks!!!

If its just a broken stud, drill a hole in the remaining bolt, grab an easy out and heat the pipe with a torch, it will come right out!!!

or if their are enough treads on the stud double nut it and heat the manifold around the stud and spray some pb on it if you want to, the heat will draw the pb into the treads. If it is just bearly out do the same with vise grips, if it broke off flush do exactly as above stated drill a hole in the center of it use an easy out also but do not drill the bolt with the exact same size drill bit, do not cut into the treads.

Also, if you have never used a torch before then I do not recommend you try it at home, you would be better off by removing the manifold and heating it up in a vise, therefore eliminating the chance of burning ur your ski.

You guys are AWESOME!

well we ended up with 2 problems.

#1 - stud was broken off with about 1 thread.
#2- bolt broke off in hole and could not be removed :(

I simply removed the manifold and took it to our trusted motorcycle mechanic who also works on ski's so I have my fingers crossed on this.

He's been able to help with any other things so I'm hoping he can help with this also..

this is a 718 engine... new manifold cost $400ish :(
