Hello All,

I have a complete 951 minus RAVES,Carbs. It turns over freely. I want to store it and keep it as a backup core block. What do you think will be best to fill the crankcase with while in storage bin. I was thinking about spraying the cylinders with fogging oil and working the crank by hand and filling the crankcase with some Mobile 1 syn.

Don't flood the case.

Are you storing it inside in a controlled environment? That would be best to do.

If the starter is still on it I would pull the spark plugs out so it spins fast, use a set of jumper cables straight to the starter to spin the motor and shoot some fogging oil into the intakes. Trying to protect the bearings without fogging a running motor is a little more difficult.

After you oil it seal it as much as you can to keep air from circulating in and store it in a controlled environment.

No it will not be stored in controlled environment. No problem spinning it with the starter and fogging it. I have some blank plates to put over all the holes for carbs, raves etc. It will be placed inside plastic bag sealed and inside a tote.

That is all it should need.

I would also change the balancer shaft oil so it is fresh when you need it.
