Engine starts but when given gas dies while in water

98 speedster the right motor dies when you give it gas no matter how fast or slow....then after about 6 tries it floods itself.. I have changed spark plugs and re did the carb.... Someone said it may be the low speed idle..im stuck on this one please help

You can try adjusting the idle, it should be about 3000rpm while one the trailer and about 1500rpm in the water. If this doesn't help check the compression and get back to us.

I have already checked the compression its at 148..... I will check the idle and see where it is at when i get home later today..thanks

hey i was wondering if you can help me figure out the problem I have with my 97 speedster.


If the boat is on the trailer I dont have a problem with the left engine it starts perfect, but when I put it in the water and I try to start the engine it has problems.. I need to accelerate the engine so it can start. When the engine is running i havent had any problem.

Did you have the same problem with your boat? can you explain a little bit what was wrong with your boat and how you fix it?
