Engine shutdown

The question I have is with my 2005 SeaDoo sportster which I purchased a few weeks ago. It's appeared to be a dealers demo with no registered numbers issued. I felt this was a good deal and felt confident I made the right choise. I put the Sportster in the water yesterday for the first time and all went well for the first hour. After the first hour the motor would shout down completely after reching 2000 RPM, below 2000 RPM the engine would continue to run. After three or four attempts to accelerate, the engine started to make a clunking sound but not below 2000 RPM and not all the time. After putting the Sportster on the trailor, I checked the fuel and oil levels which were both fine. The oil level did not seem to show any usage from the full mark on the tank which I serviced prior to running the Sportster, and I'm not sure just how much oil would have been used for an hour duration of running. I bought the Service Manual and it was no help. Can you help with this problem?

If you bought a dealer demo, the warranty doesn't start till it is registered and titled to the owner. I would go back to the selling dealer and have it repaired under warranty if you have one. Read your purchase agreement as to what is under warranty and what isn't. If you mess with it and it has a full warranty it will be void.
Keep us posted.

You should still have 30 days grace w/ the Better Business Bureau, in order to get your money back or have them fix the repairs (just realized this was posted in June...nevertheless, the problem occurred right away). If you bought it from a dealer, buyer-beware doesn't apply because you have someone to go back to and sue. Dollars to donuts they knew about the problem !! Do not let them get away with it!
