I bought a 95 dual engine seadoo from an acquaintance that had been in storage for 3-4 years. I took it to a local shop for a clean up and start up and they tell me it needs a new engine. Seller says no way. How can I tell if engines in craft are original. Stuck in the middle

You really can't tell if they are original or not. Even if you rip into them... they may have been swapped.

Now... as far as giving you help... it's not easy, since we don't know why the dealer says it needs a new engine. But... without taking sides... if they are original... and they are +20 years old... then there is a good chance that both engines need replaced.

With that said... taking an older boat to a dealer/shop is just asking to spend WAY more $$$ than it's worth.
