Hi just bought a 97 XP. I was told by last owner that it had a 98 947 engine installed How do I find out what I have Thanks

Engine should have a VIN number stamped into the block, I believe under the exhaust header where it meets the lower exhaust half. When I disassembled mine I remember seeing a tag. Anyways take that and cross reference it.

E.i.n....

The E.I.N. (engine identification number) is should be on the back of your motor, just above and to the right of your PTO flywheel, that's because your suppose to have the 787cc engine. Some other models have the E.I.N. on the block at the magneto. You should be able to see it from the top looking down............

can someone put a pic up on here as to where to look for this engine number tag?? I've been trying to locate mine but cant. I too have a 787.
