I took my 2001 Seadoo GTX out Sunday. Three times I tried to get it over 40 mph when the speed would rapidly decrease and eventually the engine shut off. I was able to start it again but I didn't dare use the throttle. Any ideas on what could be causing this? Recently purchased, new battery and spark plugs.

need to go thru the carbs, check the fuel delivery system...fuel selector valve, inline filter/s..make sure, nuth'n clogged/broke. If/when you do this, the "reeds" are behind the intake manifold, so with carbs off, i'd inspect them as well, make sure theres none are chipped and/or "off" the cage a little. They needto be laying flat against it.
