hi every one, new guy on board. 97 gsi run fine last year .now this year nothing new battery go to start .no beeps no lighting of the cluster. went in to battery box water up to the top!!! cleaned and replaced solinoid ? dry it out and then replaced dss post still nothing .is the box the problem.do i need to replace that next

Welcome to the seadoo forum motor389. Let me get this straight. You have a new battery, you go to start it no beeps, no power in the cluster. The battery box is full of water to the top...what do you mean? Is the lanyard cap dirty? Use soap and water and be sure it is clean. Don't grease it or use anything on it.The battery feeds the solenoid direct and than a 15Amp fuse feeds the MPEM,(Multi Purpose Electronic Module) from the same post, on the solenoid. Check that 15 amp fuse. Make sure the ground is good that runs from the battery to the starter. I bet the electrical connections aren't making a good connection. Use a multimeter to test the 12 volt and ground circuits, not a test light. The test light could cause a electrical problem if you test it incorrectly. Check the connections I mentioned and get back to us. If it still doesn't have power, I have a couple other things you can look for.

the box in which houses the the solenoid sum how got filled with water.the float never was sunk or did it every fill with water .checked the 15 amp fuse from the solenoid and replaced with new one .followed wires up to mpem box and checked wiring harness to it cleaned area with dry cloth and appled di-electric greasealso check all fuse in the box next to mpem. i will check on the grounds, thanks

i've check ground from battery to block was ok ohms had no reading i'm i correct on this????cleaned dss with soapy water and dryed it still nothing next step beside gas and a lighter

What do you mean no reading? Continuity and no resistance, or an open circuit?

If you switch the multimeter to 12vdc put the red probe on the Red + post of the battery and the black probe to the Black- to the ground it will show 12v, or slightly higher...like 12.6 or something...it means it has a good ground. If you get no reading it is getting no ground. Look at the wire and be sure it has a good ground on the starter. In the Mpem,(Multi Purpose Electronic Module) check for 12 volts at the solenoid where it connects from the battery. Check the 15 amp fuse in the wire that runs from the solenoid to the mpem. This fuse is what powers the mpem. Make sure it didn't blow again. Check this out and post back. We'll get it running!

I had the same thing happen to me yesterday. Press the start button, no beeps no gauges, nothing. The problem was the ground on the coil. My box was filled up with water all winter and it had rusted the connection where the 3 ground wires attach to the coil. I had to replace the 15 amp fuse holder (it probably looks good but it isn't) and clean up the connections. Busted right off after that

That happens. The 3 wires you are referring to is 2 grounds from the coils and the other is a ground that connects to the engine on that model for the 2 coil grounds. Trace the ground to the engine and check it's end there too. It might be bad too or real close to being bad.

just as i 've finish reading all this i go out and to the floats and take the aka battery, coil solenoid box out and the three wires break off the coil .now should i replace the coil as well along with the wiring and fuse and holder

Can the wires be repaired...are they the ground wires?( 2 coil ground and 1 ground to the engne) Is it just the ends that broke off if so ...re-solder new ones on and shrink wrap them.

oh boy what a mess.4 pin connector coming in to box red ,white, yellow ,black. red go's to fuse .black go's to coil with the one with the nut, yellow go's to plug on top of solenoid white go's to the top of the coil with a plug the red wire came off from the pin connecter ,black one pulled out of eye style connector. red wire from fuse going to solenoid pulled out other black wire from a 2 pin connector going to the coil pulled out as well .can get most together but the one red wire from the 4 pin connector pulled out at the very base of the connector. have a little work

the mpem is pretty well sealed. it might have survived. the solenoid is electro-mechanical. there is no way it will work after spending the winter swimming. wires broke off coil? throw it out too. coils rarely go bad. therefore they are cheap on ebay and usually ok. you need to check and clean every single bullet connector-every single ground. you also need to hot-wire the starter direct and see if it spins and spins motor. your elect box didn't magically fill with water, your hull did. maybe drain plug on ground with ski tipped up and froze or something. then drained when thawed. i sank my old 580 gts. motor siezed. left it in yard for 2 years. turns out it was the flywheel rusted to stator. inside engine is fine. i am gonna fix it this year. worthless slow old beast but attached to it. good luck. i am afraid you need it.

thanks ,i was able to hot wire the starter and float spin real well now i'm get to follow the wiring from mid hull and back cleaning replacing everything and will see how that come's out!!!

Give us a shout if we can help "Premium Members" here have acess to the wire diagrams for the seadoo... and I'm sure we can help you out if you get in a jam.
