Egg crate foam

The foam on my engine hatch for my 1998 challenger 1800 is starting to deteriorate :facepalm:
I found replacement foam but was wondering if there is a easy way to remove what's is left of the old foam and what people are using to glue the foam to the fiberglass ?
Any suggestions?
