I have a 96 XP with a 787 eng. & I am getting alot of oil into cyls. I think it might be from a bad rotory valve shaft seal. If so can that seal be changed without taking the motor out?

You need a rebuilt crank if that is the problem you can try and replace banjo fitings on oil pump and see if that will fix problem but it will take weeks too months for problem to show up agin. good luck. Robin:cheers:

how long has this been going on? the crank seals rarely fail that badly. are you sure it isn't winter storage oil, or from just sitting over the winter. my skis kill mosquitos for miles around first start-up of the year. after that they are fine. another way to check injection pump is to block it off and pre-mix the gas. don't do this for long, unless you are gonna remove the pump and install a block-off plate.

Welcome to the seadoo forum. In the 96xp with the 787 engine you have a hose coming from the oil injector tank going to the rotary gear shaft in the center of the engine cases. The oil is required to keep the rotary gear shaft lubricated. When the seals on either side go bad in the cases, the oil seeps into the combustion chamber of the cylinders and add to the injector oil which will foul plugs and cause hard starting. Just blocking off the oil injector isn't going to resolve the problem. If the problem progresses more it will get worse. You will have to either pull the engine and split the cases and have the crank rebuilt, or replace the engine with a remanufactored engine and use the old one as a core for replacement. This is the cheapest way out which will cost about $800.00. The company to contact for details is " www.sbtontheweb.com " Let us know if we can help anymore.

Sory the banjo fittings are on the 717 and may not be on 787. the bango fittings have check valves in them if one is stuck open the oil can flow out of the pump. the 787 may have check valves external but I am not sure as I can not find any info on 787 oil pump check valves. good luck. :)

There are not any Bango fittings with check valves on the 787. His problem is the Rotary Gear Shaft seals on the crank...

Banjo Fittings

I have my 587 motor out for stator replacement and I noticed I broke the banjo hose fitting during removal. Can you buy replacement banjo fitting for the oil pup?

What do the banjo fittings do? The one I broke is completely plugged.
