Just boat a used boat, i know on my 97 seadoo u dont want to fill up with a gas station hose.

On a seadoo utopia boat do i need to fill up a canister then the gas port or can i fill up with a gas station hose directly to the fill cap? Thx

On my 2001 Challenger, I pull up to the pump, remove the cap. Shove in the nozzle and watch the $ flow.

Why can't you do that on your '97 Seadoo?

Many boaters stay away from pump gas because of Ethanol content.
Marine gas typically does not have ethanol in it.
Low grade pump gas does.
If using pump gas use premium but check to see if it has ethanol in it.
Most will state the concentration, usually 10%, on the pump.
Ethanol advocates say it's safe to use in boats however many say it leaves gummy deposits and is hard on aluminum parts.
Any boat over 10 years of age should not use ethanol gas.
They weren't built to take it.
West marine has an interesting article on the subject.
"Busting ethanol fuel myths"

Here's a screenshot of fuel recommendations for my Utopia with the Mercury Optimax 250.

Basically, regular unleaded is fine with 10% or less ethanol.

I agree with Oz as long as you don't let the boat sit too long with ethanol in it. I've ripped open too many snowmobile motors with junk in the fuel systems from bad gas. Boats are incredibly complicated and far more expensive. They are very sensitive to gunk in the fuel system.
If you use a lot of gas it may be ok.
If it sits. Stay away from low grade pump gas.
It's just not worth it.
This text is from the shop manual, storage section, for a Utopia.

Fuel System
IMPORTANT: Gasoline containing alcohol (ethanol or methanol) can cause a formation of acid during storage and can damage the fuel system. If the gasoline being used contains alcohol, it is advisable to drain as much of the remaining gasoline as possible from the fuel tank, remote fuel line, and engine fuel systems.
