having an issue trying to wire dual batteries on my challenger 180. useing a deep cycle and a starting battery, i want to be able to use my starting battery strickly for the starter and the deep cycle strickly for accessories. but i dont want to have to keep changing the switch everytime i turn the boat off and want to listen to the radio. i drew up a schematic on how i think i should be able to wire it so that it never draws off both batteries at the same time and so that if my starting battery (for some odd reason) goes dead i can turn that battery off at its disconnect, turn the other to both and start from my deep cycle without haveing my deepcycle trying to recharge my start battery. one problem im having is finding which wire is the charging wire from the mag? there is currently 5 wires on the factory disconnect. 1 big red wire for starter, 1 big red to battery, 1 black wire to bilge, and 2 smaller red wires that i have no idea. assuming its one of those but im not sure which one. thanks in advance for any help!

heres the diagram
We have talked about battery isolators before and if I am not mistaken they are very easy to install I would also think it will come with instructions. If for some reason you do not get instructions let us know and I am sure we can post some I am not sure if your wireing diagram is right or wrong as I did not take the time to rack my brain at this time. ps read this thread Radio and Speaker locations/97 Speedster ( 1 2)
Disappointment it should be be easy to find as I brought it back up agin today. gunsrunner has some very good posts

most of the posts on isolators on here deal with solinoid type isolators. i was looking at using a diode type. that way its continuity sensitve, and my 2 battery systems will stay seperate at all times

This is a seadoo challenger not the space shuttle challenger. I would go with what works good for other seadoo lovers. thats only my opinion I like to keep it as simple as I can. but I can allways be wrong. good luck Robin

Iv got an isolator coming from napa for about 35 bucks. That's not the place where I'm stuck. I'm not sure wich wire is the charge wire on the factorys disconnect.

Ttt... Does anyone know which wire is the mag wire. Am I the only one who's intrested in doing this?

I do not know on that year. I would think you should be able to find out in a service manual. under wireing diagrams. mine has two wires coming from mag 1 is for charging the other is for the tach. mine is older than yours so I am sure that there could be a differance. would you need to be coming off of the rectifier? if so I would think that would be in the big electrical box. good luck Robin

found it. dunno why i was bein such a retard :chillpill:(no offence) when i was looking at the wiring diagram. theres 5 wires on the regulator, 3 yellows to the mag, one black for the ground, and a red one to draw. guess if the diagram was in my hands and not on the screen i may have found it faster. anyways let you no how it goes at the end of the week.thanks!!!!!

btw. recently had ALL the graphics on my boat replaced, and last night i just finished reupholstering the seats. also i put a monster tower and some tower speakers on to add to my excitement this year. ill have some pics when its finished
