Well I got shaft back on and was able to put on metal clip after doing new carbon seal and wear ring.
Problem is, the shaft was a little tight so I decided to use bolts on pump to force in. It did not look right as it looked like grooves on shaft were not into the pto flywheel. I ended taking back off the pump and shaft stayed in the pump. I put back on and it went in easy, I bolted down. I then put in clip. It still does not appear that the shaft is all the way in the pto flywheel. I might have 1/2 still to go, but pump is flat on hull. There is a gap from the rubber boot on the pto flywheel to the metal clip.
Could I have forced the shaft more into the pump the first time when I forced? I looked at shaft and it is not bent. So I must have forced shaft somewhere on first attempt.
Any suggestions? Should I just run it as-is?
thanks
