Just put the motor back in my 04 sportster le di and took it out, did great til I cut it sharp left and all of the sudden I lost power. Engine power was fine, just not being fully transmitted to the impeller. Found that the driveshaft has almost an inch of play front to back which also means there is no compression on the bellows so it leaks like crazy. Anyone know why it does this? Does grease in the pto keep it pushed back? Any help is greatly appreciated

Grease does help with the pressure. But with that kind of movement, you have something wrong. Did you use a C-Clip or O-Ring on the shaft for the CS?

It should be the C-Clip style as the O-Rings break.

Are the rubbers bumpers on the ends of the shaft?

I used the c clip that came with the sbt driveline rebuild. Both rubber bumpers are in place. Tried to loosen motor mounts and pull it back but no movement at all hardly.

I have read where others installed one of the mounts backwards which pulls the engine forward...

I don't recall which is it but I THINK it is the rear mount...
