Driveshaft Question

This is on a 99 Sportster 1800.
The blue shaft protectors are broken and there is some sort of ring that this lose on the driveshaft. It should be tight against the impeller. Is the boat still safe to use in this condition or should I get this fixed before I use it again? The boat is running very good, I just happened to go under it to remove some seaweed and noticed this. Not sure how long it has been like that.

Some may disagree, but I don’t really like the shaft protectors. They seem to wind up in the condition yours are in more often than not... I’d go ahead and remove them if it were me. As for the ring, I’m not sure if that’s part of the sleeve or not. Someone else will have to see if they can identify that piece...

It's fine. You can just reach in there and slide that ring back onto the impeller boot.
